Information on Preparing Sushi for Japanese Cuisine Lovers

There are many characteristic cuisines in the world of gastronomy literature. One of them is Japanese cuisine. In Japanese cuisine, which is a unique cuisine, sushi has a special importance with its history dating back to the II. century BC. Although sushi is a dish identified with Japan, its origin is based on a Chinese dish called Narezushi. Let's briefly touch on those who are curious about the preparation of sushi, which is consumed with pleasure in almost every country in the world with its different and delicious varieties.

Types of Sushi for Every Taste

Those who are not acquainted with sushi may think that this flavor consists only of raw fish and rice. This idea, which has become a common and almost settled opinion, is actually completely wrong. Sushi, which has a variety that can appeal to every taste, is not only made from raw fish. There is even a vegan version of sushi. In general, sushi types are grouped under two main headings as classic and modern varieties.

To start with the classic sushi varieties, Maki sushi comes first. Maki sushi, one of the most preferred types of sushi, is also in itself; It is divided into subspecies such as Hosomaki, Chumaki, Futomaki, Temaki, and Uramaki. Maki sushi and its derivatives are all made by wrapping in seaweed called nori. Of course, seaweed is accompanied by rice, various vegetables, and fish. At this point, it is necessary to open a separate parenthesis for Uramaki, because we can say that things are going a little differently in Uramaki. The vegetables and fish used in making uramaki are first wrapped in seaweed and then in rice. It can also be sprinkled with sesame seeds.

When it comes to modern sushi varieties, this time California Roll welcomes us. California Roll, which is the most preferred sushi variety in Turkey, has an aromatic taste. This type of sushi includes avocado, crab, fish roe, and cucumber. The ingredient-rich version of California Roll is Spider Roll. This type, made with fried crab, also includes spicy mayonnaise and daikon sprouts. Philadelphia Roll is an ideal option for those who prefer a light and fried product. This type, which is made with fried salmon, has only cream cheese and cucumber as extra ingredients. The last type of sushi is VeganRoll. This type of sushi, consisting only of vegetables, is mainly made with vegetables such as cucumbers, avocados, and carrots.

Tips for Preparing Sushi

Sushi preparation is a laborious and demanding process. As it is known, rice is one of the main components of sushi. Extra attention should be paid to the selection and consistency of the rice. For this, short-grain rice should be preferred. While boiling the rice, you should be careful that it is firm in texture but not crunchy. At the same time, the rice should not be crushed while mixing. Apart from these, the most important issue is that the rice gains a shiny appearance and has a sticky consistency. It is especially important that the rice is sticky. It is also among the tricks that the type of vinegar to be used is rice vinegar and that the rice should not be placed in metal bowls. After your rice is ready, it is necessary to proceed to the step of meeting with nori.

When combining nori and rice on the sushi mat, you need to be careful to leave some extra space. In this way, it will be easier for the rice not to disperse while wrapping and to combine and take shape. When wrapping, you should use a sushi mat made of bamboo. After placing the ingredients, you need to keep a delicate balance while wrapping the sushi. While wrapping it to make sure it sticks together, we should make sure not to tighten the sushi too much at the same time. Otherwise, you may cause the ingredients to be crushed or cause a bad appearance.

After rolling the ingredients, it's time to cut the sushi. While performing the cutting process, use your preference for a very sharp knife and wooden cutting board. Sushi can fall apart if you don't choose a good knife. In fact, it is useful to wet the knife in order to cut the sushi neatly and evenly. After the cutting process is completed, you can finally serve the sushi by decorating it with the spices you want.
